I would like to invite you to join me as a partner in Raising Up Hope for Uganda! Our organization is dedicated to helping disadvantaged children, especially AIDS orphans and street children in Uganda, Africa. We aim to overcome poverty and hopelessness.
The foundation was formed to respond to the increasing needs of the children whose parents have died of AIDS and street children in my country, Uganda. We realized the children's plight needed urgent attention because we could not just stand aloof, pity or sympathize with them. We realized the importance in helping them attain their full human dignity.
As you are probably aware, HIV/AIDS continues to have a far greater impact on Africa than any other continent in the world, and Uganda is no exception to this epidemic. Though Uganda has produced some promising results on the prevention of HIV/AIDS, its impact has taken away a generation of fathers, mothers, uncles, aunts, and friends. A new generation of innocent orphans is left behind with no one to fend for them. The Ugandan extended family system, like those in many other developing countries, has been the core support and provision system for orphans. However, a combination of HIV/AIDS and other social and economic pressures has pushed the extended family to its breaking point, especially in communities most affected by HIV/AIDS.
Some of the children in our care are AIDS orphans, many come from one-parent families, some are "Street children", others abandoned and abused. Each is faced with many challenges and is accompanied with many needs. Poverty, illiteracy,negligence, emotional scars and poor health are some of their common problems. We are providing long-term care (24/7/365) for these children. We escort them from the homes where they have been staying with temporary guardians and we raise them to be contributing members of their own society.
The future of these children is our heart beat.
Though we tell these children,"God lovesyou,"we understand that this may not make sense until we show them God's love with a hot meal ,change of clothes ,safe place of sleep ,a listening ear,and a warm hand on a trembling shoulder . Above all we give the ma chance for a constructive future through educational training.For these reasons,invite you to partner with us to help bring hope and along lasting smile on the faces of these children.
